Alberta 55 plus was the first organization of its kind anywhere. Since its inception, five other provinces and fifty states have organized along similar lines.

The Alberta 55 plus believes that every individual 55 years of age and over has the fundamental right to the opportunity for enrichment, fulfillment, and improved quality of life and health through a broad variety of recreation, sports, and organized games. Alberta 55+ provides a unified voice and a sociable atmosphere for older adults to engage in physical and other activities at the level of their choice.

Alberta 55 plus, an autonomous provincial sport body, has established zone boards in each of the eight zones in the province. These zone boards are headed by senior volunteers who promote, develop and organize “grass roots” playoff activities leading to the Alberta 55 plus Winter and Summer  Games, Challenge Cups and to the Canada Senior Games. They encourage the senior population of Alberta to participate in sport and recreational development, not only for these Games, but also throughout the year. Through participation, the mental and physical health of seniors is enhanced. As a result seniors enjoy a healthier life and are less of a burden on health care costs and social services.

Our Zone within Alberta is Zone 4. Each zone is broken into areas with a volunteer director responsible for communication with the members of their area. The City of Camrose as well as the County of Camrose (Area 7, within Zone 4) is the responsibility of Director, Rosella Snopek of Camrose. Contact # is (780) 608-1391 or email rfsnopek@telus.net.
